Western somatic techniques were developed throughout the twentieth century and are preceded by Asian movement practices such as yoga. The techniques search to enhance physical awareness and wellbeing as well as to recover from and prevent injury. Somatic practices are beneficial for anyone, they are used as a support training by athletes, dancers and actors and are also increasingly practiced in society.
In the lessons we search for a better use of effort and breath connected to movement through subtle exercises of articulation of the spine and the whole body structures combined with core workout and various strengthening and stretching exercises. The practice aims to release tensions, improve posture, range of movement and gain strength. The exercises are taken from the Pilates, Feldenkrais and Klein techniques.
